The common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) is a species of primate hominid own of tropical Africa. Chimpanzees —along with the bonobo— are the closest living relatives to the human being; its branch evolutionary split from the branch of humans about seven million years ago and share 96% of DNA with them,2 which has led Jared Diamond to use the term "the third chimpanzee" to refer to our own species. The males weigh about 80 kg in captivity and measure up to 1.7 m. It is characterized by its advanced intelligence often compared to that of the human beings. For example, it has been observed that young chimpanzees are built "dolls" and other toys with sticks and canes.3
